How to turn a video into an MP3 on iPhone

Published · Yaysoft LTD

Three steps to pull the audio out of a video on your iPhone as an MP3 — without uploading the file anywhere.

What you need

An iPhone on iOS 18 or later, the video itself — in Photos, in Files, or in another app that can share it — and Tonify. The video has to be on your phone already: Tonify converts files you have; it does not download from YouTube, TikTok or other streaming services.

1. Pick the video

Open Tonify and choose the video from Photos or Files, or send it from any app through the Share sheet. The system picker hands over only the file you choose; the app never gets access to the rest of your library.

2. Choose MP3 and a bitrate

Pick MP3 as the format and a bitrate between 128 and 320 kbps. The estimated file size is shown before anything runs, so you can weigh quality against space first.

3. Get the file

The conversion runs on your phone. When it finishes, iOS reads the file back to make sure it is valid, and it is saved in the Files app under On My iPhone › Tonify. From there you can share, rename or move it like any other file.

If something does not work

Tonify reads anything your iPhone can play — MP4, MOV, M4V, HEVC — but no app can read DRM-protected files. Long videos simply take longer and need free space for the output. On iOS 18, keep Tonify open while a long conversion runs; on iOS 26 it keeps going when you switch to another app.

Try it on your iPhone

Tonify pulls the audio out of any video as MP3, M4A or WAV, or cuts a 30-second ringtone — converted on your phone, with no upload.
