Custom ringtones: from a video clip to your iPhone's ringtone
Cut up to 30 seconds from a video, save it as an .m4r file and install it with the tool iOS provides.
Step by step
Open the ringtone cutter
Pick the video in Tonify and open the ringtone cutter. The 30-second limit is drawn on screen while you trim.
Trim and listen to the loop
Trim the part you want on the waveform and hear it loop, exactly as it will sound when the phone rings.
Save the .m4r file
Tonify writes an .m4r file — the format iPhone uses for ringtones — and puts it in the Files app under On My iPhone › Tonify.
Install it
No app can set your ringtone for you; iOS does not allow it. On iOS 26 use the system's own Use as Ringtone action; on iOS 18 use Apple's free GarageBand app. Tonify shows you the steps for both.
Where it appears
Once installed, the sound is listed in Settings › Sounds & Haptics › Ringtone.

Try it on your iPhone
Tonify pulls the audio out of any video as MP3, M4A or WAV, or cuts a 30-second ringtone — converted on your phone, with no upload.
